I like to get up early to have the whole day ahead of me, but the fact of waking up has always been a challenge for me. However, I now have a kind of routine that is helping me to start my day on the right foot. So, here are my five morning habits that will help you start your day right!
Morning habit 1: No snooze button
The whole part of waking up is kind of painful for me, so why did I use to do it three or four times? Not hitting the snooze button has been the best improvement of my morning habits but one of the hardest as well. It took me a while to stop it (not so long if you consider that I’ve been doing it my whole life). Now, by waking up on time, I don’t rush in the morning anymore. And it also has a consequence on my mind, since staying in bed after the alarm goes off tells your body that it is ok to keep sleeping because you’ve got nothing important to do. However, if you wake up thinking that you’ve got the whole day ahead and enough time to accomplish anything you want, it is the best way to be more productive.
Morning habit 2: Wash your face
The first thing I do after I get up is always washing my face, as it finishes waking me up fully. Of course, it also removes any impurities accumulated during the night and prepares the skin for moisturizer and makeup application. At the moment, I use the Sukin foaming cleanser for sensitive skin, and after drying up my skin, I spray some rose floral water all over my face. Et voilà!
Morning habit 3: Drink!
Water, of course! My second step after getting out of bed is drinking a large glass of water, most of the time with a squeeze of lemon juice, as I’ve always got some in hand. My first goal is hydration, but adding lemon juice has some more benefits, including better digestion and an immune system boost thanks to the high vitamin C content.
Morning habit 4: Have breakfast or tea
I eat breakfast during the week, but very rarely during the weekend. If I don’t, I drink a large mug of black tea. This is the best part of my morning: just taking a bit of time for myself and enjoy my food – or tea. My go-to breakfast is a bowl of yogurt, granola, and fresh fruits or toasts with peanut butter and sliced banana.
Morning habit 5: Stretching
I love stretching at the gym after a good workout, feeling that my body is relaxed but stronger. That’s why before I get dressed, I just take a few minutes on the floor to stretch my arms, legs, and my spine. It allows my body to get warm and feel more energized. That way, I am ready for the day ahead!
