Coconut oil is part of my beauty routine for a long time now and it is THE product that I always have in my bathroom, as it is naturally antibacterial and moisturizing. When shopping, I always choose unrefined, virgin, and organic coconut oil. A small jar will go a long way, so trust me, this is one of the cheapest products you could get as part of your beauty routine. So, how can you use it?

- MAKEUP REMOVER
This is by far the best makeup remover I ever found. I use waterproof mascara and finding a product that does not take me half an hour to clean my face was a challenge. You’ve got to get used to it though, as coconut oil needs to be washed off properly – if not, you could end up with oily face and blackheads. But paired with a good cleanser, this is the best natural and unexpensive makeup remover ever.
- UNDER-EYE MOISTURIZER
I tend to have fine lines under my eyes that become really visible if I don’t moisturize it properly, especially during winter. That’s why coconut oil is part of my bedtime routine: I just apply some under my eye to keep it hydrated and tap it with my finger to penetrate the skin properly. However, I don’t recommend it in the morning as coconut oil can look greasy and won’t be a good base under makeup. But before bed, that’s a win!
- LIP SCRUB
Honey and sugar are two ingredients that I always have in my pantry. If you mix it with coconut oil, this is the fastest DIY lip scrub you could do. Just mix the three ingredients; I usually put a half teaspoon of coconut oil and honey, and one teaspoon of sugar. Rub it on your lips, let it sit for five minutes (the oil and honey will moisturize as well), and rinse it off… easy as that!

- HAIR MASK
To apply it on your hair, you just need to warm the coconut oil until it becomes liquid: you can put it in the microwave for a few seconds if you need to (as the proper unprocessed coconut oil will be hard under 24°C). Then, just take a comb to apply it heavenly on your hair and do a ponytail or a bun. I usually let it rest the whole night and do my shampoo in the morning (in that case, don’t forget to put a towel on your pillow). Otherwise, a few hours will do the trick. You will need to rinse it very carefully as the hair can stay greasy otherwise. Once washed, hairs are visibly smothered and moisturized!
- AS AN OINTMENT
In Australia, there is a popular product called Pawpaw ointment that can be used to moisturize your lips, or on any damaged skin area (like a burn, a cut, or a rash). Well, guess what? Coconut oil can do it all, too! Thanks to its antibacterial properties and the presence of vitamin E, it will help to heal any wound. Just apply it on the skin and put a bandage on it (and change it several times a day). Needless to say, if your wound is large or severe, seek professional medical attention!

These are the ways I use coconut oil as a part of my beauty routine. However, I’ve heard of many other benefits: for example, you can apply it on your stretch marks, on your cuticles, or even as a deodorant. It is by far the best all-rounder product that can be used on your skin or hair. And what is the best part of it? It is natural and cheap!
So, is coconut oil a part of your beauty routine? If not, are you willing to try it?
I love Papaw 🙂 But now that you wrote about how good coconut is I might try for my hair. Thanks for sharing
I hope you’ll like coconut oil on your hair, just make sure to rinse it carefully! Thanks for your comment 🙂
So many different ways to use coconut oil for beauty routines! I like the idea of making my own lip scrub, and it seems really simple to make too. I didn’t realise it would help heal wounds too, that’s something I will keep in mind. Thanks for sharing!

Yes lip scrub is super easy to do! I’ve heard of making your own lip balm as well, but never tried it. Maybe next time, because you can definitely use coconut oil a lot of different ways! Thanks for your comment 🙂
Loved this!!!
Thank you 🙂
I’ve used coconut oil for cooking but never realised it had so many beauty uses, thanks for sharing!
That’s exactly the contrary for me, I rarely use it for cooking ahah! Thanks for your comment 🙂
Wow!! Thank you so much for sharing! I love coconut oil for my skin and hair! I’ve even been adding it to smoothies and salads lately and I just love it!
Oh really, like in salads to make a dressing? Never thought about it but that must be good! Thank you for your comment 🙂
Yup! I mix it with extra virgin olive oil, vinegar and/or lemon juice, garlic (smashed), a pinch of salt and black pepper, and some dried herbs of choice (peppermint, Holy basil, oregano,..) I started doing this after reading an amazing article about the benefits of Coconut oil for gut health and major digestive problems (malabsorption, colon cleansing, Candida and bacteria,..) But I need to emphasize 2 things: Use only high quality, organic, and 100% pure coconut oil. And be aware that it may increase cholesterol levels (both the bad and the good ones) and cause other issues when consumed excessively. So use it mindfully + in moderation!
Thanks for writing! I’m going to try out this lip scrub recipe tonight xx
Great, I hope you’ll like it! Thanks for your comment 🙂
Thanks! Need to start incorporating coconut into my routine!!
Yes, you should definitely try it! Thank you for your comment 🙂
Great post. Coconut oil is a gem, I started using it for my hair about a year ago. I will try it more for other things as well now.
Yes on the hair is probably the most popular use, definitely try it on your skin as well 🙂 Thank you for your comment!
