Even though lockdown is over around Australia (except for Victoria), and the gym reopened in almost every state, it is not going to be as easy as before to go for a quick workout! The number of people per class is limited and time slots have to be booked in advance in many clubs. That means most of us are going to keep exercising at home from time to time, and I have to say that I actually liked browsing Youtube looking for my next workout during the lockdown and that I discovered great channels. So, let’s have a look at my top 4!
Cassey Ho is specializing in Pilates and there is great content on her channel even if you are a beginner. She offers some short or longer workout, full-body or specific targeted area. Her 25min abs workout is my go-to when I want to work my abs. She is super positive and keeps you motivated while chatting during the video. I will keep doing her workout at home without any doubts. She also got a great blog that I discovered after her YouTube channel where she offers printable, great articles with tips on food, fitness, mental health, or body image. And the best of all? Every month, she offers on her blog a calendar featuring her YouTube videos and guiding you through what you should do every day. Of course, you don’t have to follow it, but it is a great resource if you need a bit of support.
My favourite workout: Extreme abs workout in 25 minutes
My next discovery is the channel Madfit, created by Maddie Lymburger. She is offering a good variety of workouts including HIIT, cardio, and even dance with great music. A lot of her workouts are apartment-friendly (which is great if you don’t want to start a war with your neighbors). There is always a timer on the corner of the video, which can be a relief as her workouts are seriously harder than they look!
My favourite workout: Low impact full body HITT workout (apartment-friendly)
She is a certified Pilates and barre instructor, originally from Canada but living in Sydney (where she films most of her workout on the beach). She is a great instructor and always encourages you to work harder. Even if she tends to offer short work out on her channel, they are all super intense and that is why I watch her videos when I am in a rush but just want a good sweat. She is also uploading VLOG regularly on her channel that I love to watch. If you are willing to pay, she is offering a BBFIT program on her website, featuring a calendar guiding you through the videos, as well as meal plans for 15$ a month.
My favourite workout: 5 minutes butt lifting workout
There are a lot of different trainers on this channel and my favourite one is Jake Dupree. He is super motivating and always cracking up a joke, which makes the workout more entertaining. The variety of workouts on this channel is amazing, and the possibilities are endless whatever you are looking for. Popsugar also offers a blog treating a wide range of subjects, like health and fitness, self-care but also fashion and beauty. The video below is probably the one I did the most during lockdown time, and I keep doing it regularly since I went back to work: if I had to keep only one, it would definitely be this one!
My favourite workout: 30 min butt and abs pilate bikini workout
